Catch up: Shirt into Nightie

I finally found my camera
and loaded up my photos
and in case you're keeping count
there were over 1,600 photos
to load, edit, delete, and post on here.

The bad news:
When I did find my camera, it was broken.
Ouch.

The good news?
I can finally share some of the projects
i've been doing at my house.

So here's the first
of however many posts it takes
to catch you fine people up

I saw this pin a year ago

I finally had a shirt that was worth using
but wouldn't make me cry if it didn't work out.
It's a delicate balance you see.

Here's the pics

This girl won't even stay still for one pic...
But she will pretend to sleep
because she thinks it's hilarious!
Remember when pretending was the best game ever?
I get to re-live the magic
with this little girl
=]

 There you have it!
Nothing fancy
but something that is loved
and used a lot.

I thought the original tutorial was great!
And I will definitely do it again!

Party Pins

My camera has been MIA for a month now
and I have been working on all sorts of stuff
BUT cannot post any photos for you.
Sad, I know.
So I have been neglecting this corner of my life

To get back on track, let me post some pins
of things I have tried and have worked well.

This Doily Banner

These Doily pom-poms.
Used a sewing machine for the stitch
Worked great!

Paper Lanterns.
Only used 10 sheets of tissue paper
and they were awesome!

Replicated this adorable cake!

And took this little "quiz"
25 things Mormon Girls Love
I only love 4 of these
(Numbers 1, 18, 20 and 25)
just in case you're wondering
So I guess i'm not very Mormon-y ;)

Sorry it's not anything new!
Gotta work with the resources I have!
Hope to find my camera soon so I can post
Sophia's 1st birthday
and all of the fun stuff we did.

Here's my Party Board
In case you wanna see it

Thanks for reading! =]

Painted Purse - Stripes

I posted my first painted purse last week.
Here is another one I made.
I actually painted both of these
the same day.
See the painted pretties?

The painting itself took about
30 minutes total.
It just took me a week to
glue the handles on this one
because pulling out a glue gun
takes so much time...

I don't know which one I like better
but I love them both!

Here is the inspiration bag:

Prettyt!!!
Here's how I made my bag.
Some are repeat photos
from the last post
but it doesn't hurt to recap.
Ready, go!

Only spent $0.80 for the belt strap!

Painted Purse Tutorial

My mama pinned this a little while ago.

I love this bag!
and it only costs $20!
Yeah, that's a steal of a deal!
I wish I had $20 to spend on this!

But alas, I do not.
With Caleb in Graduate School
and me home with the girls,
we really try to spend our money wisely.
Sometimes that means not spending it.
$20 bucks doesn't seem like a lot
but this is what $20 can buy for our family.

That's right, Groceries!
A whoooole weeks worth!

When Caleb and I were first married,
we would spend $20 a week on groceries
for just the two of us.
We spend a little more now
for our family of four
but it's still my goal to only spend $20 a week.
Groceries aren't glamorous
but who wants to be glamorous
when you have a family to feed?
See this family?

 Yeah, they get hungry sometimes...

 But seriously folks,
I don't have $20
so here's a tutorial instead
of a knock-off sort-of.

Here's my purse!
Yes, I painted this!
Not my 3 year old daughter ;)
It's not glamorous
but I like it
and that's all that really matters!

Here we go:

I used Acrylic paint
This isn't the same purse but here's the step to sew the big pocket-like purse

The end =]
